Tommy Banks's Michelin-starred York restaurant on Marygate, a short walk from the Museum Gardens, run day to day by head chef Will Lockwood. The kitchen cooks tasting menus built almost entirely from the Banks family farm at Oldstead and its preservation larder, so the menu moves with what the farm's growing season and store cupboard allow: a Core menu at £110, a longer Signature menu at £165, and a Sunday Feast from £75. It is the city sibling of the Black Swan at Oldstead and the most ambitious cooking inside York's walls; book well ahead, especially for weekend sittings.
