About
York's quiet stalwart: a neighbourhood fine-dining room on Scarcroft Road, south of the walls near Bishopthorpe Road, founded and still run by Michael and Lucy Hjort with head chef Calvin Miller. The cooking is modern British built on Yorkshire farms and artisan suppliers, with two AA Rosettes and a long-standing Michelin Guide listing, and Lucy's wine list of over 120 bins is a genuine draw in its own right. Less theatrical than the city-centre tasting menus and loved locally for exactly that reason.
