The Red Lion
2 South Green, Southwold, Suffolk IP18 6ET
About
The pub on South Green, looking straight out at Gun Hill and the sea beyond it, in a Grade II listed building the pub itself dates back more than five hundred years. Real local ales, premium lagers and home-cooked food, and a large green outside that acts as its garden in summer. Booking works differently here from the Adnams houses: you fill in a request form on the pub's own site or ring, and the pub calls back to confirm, with a five pounds per person deposit. Food is served daily 12.00 to 14.30 and 18.00 to 20.00, Sundays 12.00 to 14.30, and the restaurant is closed on Thursday and Sunday evenings; out of season those times shift, so ring first. It is also the finish line of the Adnams 10k.
