Half a Day in Donegal Town: The Diamond, the Castle and a Bit of Tweed

Half dayYear-round

If you have an afternoon in Donegal Town, most likely as a stop on the way toward Slieve League or Sligo, spend it on the compact historic core: the Diamond and its Four Masters monument, Donegal Castle, a bit of tweed and craft shopping, and a sit-down meal to finish. All of it is within a five-to-ten-minute walk of the Diamond.

A Full Day in Donegal Town: The Bay, the History and the Bank Walk

Full dayyear-round, though the Waterbus step only runs March to October

A full day in Donegal Town for anyone using it as a proper one- or two-night base rather than a quick stop: the castle and the Diamond in the morning, the Donegal Bay Waterbus and the Abbey ruins after lunch, and the Bank Walk and the Railway Heritage Centre to round out the afternoon, finishing with dinner and live music.
