Donegal Railway Heritage Centre
About
Housed in the former Donegal railway station on Tyrconaill Street, the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre commemorates the County Donegal Railways Committee, which operated narrow-gauge lines across the county from 1863 until they closed in 1959. Restored by the County Donegal Railway Restoration Society and open since 1995, the centre displays rolling stock including the restored Class 5 locomotive Drumboe (1907), a Series 2 carriage from 1893, and various vans and railcars, alongside an audio-visual history of the line. It is a good indoor, wet-weather stop and a reminder that Donegal Town once had a railway it no longer has.
