About

The fishmonger on Pier Road, right on the quayside where the boats land, selling fresh fish and shellfish from the Whitby fleet. It is the shop that makes the point the restaurants only imply: this is a working port with a fish quay, and the shortest possible route from boat to counter is about thirty metres. Worth a look even if you are not cooking, because the slab tells you exactly what is being caught off this coast this week, which is a better guide to what to order for dinner than any menu.
