About

The East Side entry in the argument, on Bridge Street just over the swing bridge, and the only one of the four that is family-run down three generations. Hadley's first opened in 1937 under Alan Hadley and is now run by his grandson Chris. The pitch on its own site is unfussy: British potatoes, MSC-certified fish, home-cooked mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce. It is smaller and less of a production than the Pier Road places, it closes earlier, and it is the one to aim for if you are already on the old-town side and do not want to cross the bridge and join a queue.
