On Market Place on the East Side, a fish kitchen and charcoal grill that keeps the latest hours in this part of town and runs live music and themed nights that are aimed squarely at residents rather than day-trippers. Its own site sets out the arrangement clearly: the mezzanine upstairs is held for table reservations and the ground floor is kept free for walk-ins, so you have a route in either way. Fish comes in daily. It is the obvious answer to the very common Whitby problem of wanting dinner after eight o'clock on the old-town side.
