About

A stone riverside inn at Wolvercote on the northern tip of Port Meadow, beside Godstow Bridge and a short walk from the ruins of Godstow Abbey. The terrace over the rushing Thames weir is the draw, and has been for generations of students, dons and television detectives; the pub is a recurring Inspector Morse location. Now a smartened-up dining pub with log fires and a long menu of classics and Sunday roasts, open noon to 11pm most days. It is the natural end point of the Thames Path walk across the meadow, with a bus or taxi back from Wolvercote if the return leg has lost its appeal.
