About

Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Willow Tea Rooms, designed in 1903 for the tea-room entrepreneur Kate Cranston and restored and reopened on Sauchiehall Street as a working tea room and small visitor exhibition. The Salon de Luxe, Mackintosh's high-backed silver chairs and leaded glass room on the first floor, is the reason to come: it is the most complete Mackintosh interior open to the public anywhere, since both the Glasgow School of Art's Mackintosh Building and The Lighthouse are currently closed. Afternoon tea is the signature order, bookable online, with lighter walk-in service also available; a small exhibition area covers Mackintosh's design work in the building.
