The most Cardiff food there is. Clark's Pies have been made in the city since 1913, when Mary Clark started baking at her shop in Roath, and the last remaining shop, opened in 1955 by her grandson, still trades at 23 Bromsgrove Street in Grangetown. A 'Clarksie' is a meat-and-potato pie with a pastry sturdy enough to eat one-handed at the football, which is exactly how generations of Cardiffians have eaten them. No frills, no tables to speak of, and closed by mid afternoon most days; go before a match or after a walk along the Taff and eat it warm from the bag.
