    Late morning·

Book in at Kilcullen's Seaweed Baths

Start with the thing the village is famous for. Phone ahead to book, as the baths require it, then lower yourself into a hot seawater bath full of bladderwrack in an original Edwardian porcelain tub. Allow about an hour, and add the steam cabinet if you want the full treatment.

    Walk the strand

Step straight from the baths down to the beach and walk a stretch of the five-kilometre Blue Flag strand, with Killala Bay and the Mayo coast across the water. Turn back whenever you please.

    Lunch in the village

Head into the village for a bite. The Pilot Bar does pizzas, burgers and a well-rated seafood chowder, or Gilroy's upstairs at Áit Eile leans more toward fresh seafood with bay views.
