About

A crescent of golden sand running roughly five kilometres along the shore of Killala Bay, and a Blue Flag beach year after year. It is a classic Irish family strand: shallow, gently shelving water for paddling and swimming, firm sand for walking and building castles, and a lifeguarded section in front of the promenade during the summer bathing season. Beyond the lifeguarded zone the strand stretches far enough that you can always find your own patch of quiet. It is also one of the best beginner surf beaches in the county.
