The heart of the heritage town, set in the 14th-century Goat Castle on Castle Street, one of the two fortified merchant houses still standing. The guided living-history tour runs from the 10th-century churchyard of St Begnet through the castle and up to the battlements, with costumed actors from the Deilg Inis Theatre Company playing the parts. Inside there is a Writers' Gallery covering 45 figures with Dalkey associations, from Shaw and Beckett to Maeve Binchy and Bono. Closed Tuesdays.
