The hotel on Emmet Square, and the most central bed in Birr: the Garda station, the post office and the town's butcher are on the same square, the FAN Trail runs past the door and the castle gates are about six or seven minutes' walk west. It has recently been refurbished and lists 24-hour check-in, free wi-fi, room service, luggage and bicycle storage, function space for up to 200 seated, and early check-in from 2pm when you book direct. Food and drink is in the Coach House Bar and the Bianconi Courtyard, with Melba's next door. The hotel also runs the Malt Store Suites, self-catering apartments in a restored Georgian building a short walk away. Note the domain: the hotel is at doolyshotel.ie, and the old doolyshotel.com address now returns a 404.
