About
Curraghchase Forest Park at Kilcornan, about 10 km west of Adare, is the place to escape the village crowds into woodland and lakeside trails. It is a Coillte forest park of mature woodland, a lake and the ruins of Curraghchase House, once home to the poet Aubrey de Vere, with waymarked walking trails, an arboretum and a campsite and caravan park. It makes an easy half-day away from the thatched street, especially good with children or a dog, and it is one of the few genuinely uncrowded green spaces near Adare. Bring proper footwear for the woodland paths and check Coillte for current opening and any parking charge.
