A guided tour through the history that made York England's chocolate city: the Quaker dynasties of Rowntree and Terry, the factory floors that invented the KitKat in 1935 and the Chocolate Orange, and the tasting and chocolate-making demonstrations that end the visit. It sits on King's Square at the top of the Shambles, runs daily from 10am with guided tours through the day, and is more genuinely local than it first looks, since chocolate, not wool or steel, was this city's industry within living memory.
