About
York's five-star hotel, in the 1906 headquarters of the North Eastern Railway Company on Station Rise, a palatial Edwardian pile designed by William Bell and Horace Field when York ran the railways of the north. Restored as a hotel in 2010, it keeps the boardroom grandeur, adds the SubRosa spa in the old vaults, and eats well: Legacy is the fine-dining flagship, The Rise a modern British brasserie, with a 1906 bar and afternoon tea besides. It sits between the station and the walls, two minutes from Micklegate Bar, and books direct on its own site.
