About
The pub at the bottom of the 199 steps, on the corner where Church Street meets the Church Stairs, and therefore the single most convenient pint in Whitby: you either earn it on the way down or use it to put off the climb. The windows over the harbour mouth look straight out at the piers, which makes it a good spot to watch weather come in. It does pub food through the day, has rooms upstairs, and gets extremely busy in summer and on Goth Weekend, when the corner outside becomes a de facto meeting point for the whole East Side.
