Copper House Distillery, Adnams, Southwold, Suffolk
Adnams' distillery, on the same Southwold site as the brewery and visible through a glass frontage from the street. What makes it unusual is that the base spirit is distilled here from barley and other grains rather than bought in, then redistilled with botanicals for the Copper House gins; the Longshore vodka and a single malt whisky come off the same plant. Public distillery tours, a whisky experience and make-your-own-gin sessions all run from the Adnams Tours Centre in The Swan Courtyard on the Market Place, a short walk away, rather than from the distillery door.
Brewing in the middle of the town since 1872, on a site brewing far longer than that.
