A small, serious Italian restaurant on the High Street that has been the town's special-occasion address for years. Everything is made in house, the menu is short and changes with what is good, and Scottish produce turns up inside Italian cooking rather than the other way round. Service is evenings only from Tuesday to Wednesday and lunch plus dinner Thursday to Saturday, and it closes on Sunday and Monday. Reservations are taken by telephone only: the restaurant states plainly that it cannot take bookings by email, so phone 01620 890589 and expect to be asked to call back if the sitting you want is full.
