Mersey Ferry River Explorer Cruise

← All things to do

About

A 50-minute round-trip cruise on the River Mersey, the same ferries made famous by Gerry and the Pacemakers, departing from the Pier Head terminal (or Seacombe on the Wirral side) with a digital audio commentary on the city's maritime history and views back at the Three Graces from the water. Runs on a seasonal timetable, roughly April to February, with shorter winter hours; a proper way to see the waterfront's scale that a shoreline walk cannot match.

  • Free digital audio commentary via smartphone
  • Departs the Pier Head terminal, a short walk from Lime Street
  • The same ferry route immortalised in Gerry and the Pacemakers' 'Ferry Cross the Mersey'

Tips

  • Runs on a seasonal timetable (roughly April to February); check current departure times before travelling.
