A drinks-only pub, and deliberately so. The Albion was built in 1921, is Grade II listed for an interior that survives largely intact, and closed for a year of restoration before reopening in February 2012 under an arrangement with no obvious parallel: four rival Welsh breweries running one pub between them. Purple Moose of Porthmadog, Great Orme of Llandudno, Bragdy Nant of Llanrwst and Conwy Brewery of Llysfaen each keep beer on. There is no television and no jukebox, food does not go beyond a nibbles list, and the stated intention is to fill the room with conversation instead. It was named CAMRA Wales Pub of the Year in 2013. Eat first, then come here.
