About
The Taff Trail runs 55 miles from Cardiff Bay to Brecon, and its first city miles are the best free half day in Cardiff: a flat, traffic-free route from Roald Dahl Plass at the Bay, up the east bank of the Taff past the Principality Stadium, through Bute Park's arboretum, over Blackweir Bridge and along Pontcanna Fields to Llandaff, where a short climb off the river delivers you to the cathedral and its village green. Walk it, run it or ride it; then come back by water bus from Bute Park, or simply retrace the river. The full waypointed route is on this site's trail page.
Highlights
- ✓The stadium from river level
- ✓Bute Park's arboretum and Blackweir Bridge
- ✓Pontcanna Fields' avenue of trees
- ✓Llandaff Cathedral as the turnaround point
Tips
- →It is shared walking and cycling space; keep an ear out for bikes, especially under the stadium walkway.
- →Cafes cluster at Bute Park and Llandaff village; there is little en route in between.
- →See the trail page for the waypointed route.
