North Laine
About half a mile of wandering ·
About
North Laine sits just above the Lanes and has a completely different character, less polished and more bohemian, with independent record shops, vintage clothing, street art, and vegan cafes. This is where Brighton's alternative reputation actually shows itself on the street rather than in guidebooks. Trafalgar Street and Sydney Street are the main spines to wander, and it is a good area for people who find the Lanes a bit twee or touristy. It is walkable directly from the train station, so it makes sense as a first or last stop on a day trip.
