Terre à Terre
71 East Street, Brighton, BN1 1HQ
About
Terre à Terre has been serving entirely vegetarian and vegan food since 1993 and is largely credited with putting Brighton on the map as a meat-free food city. The menu is inventive rather than earnest, running to dishes like tempura soft-shell taco, backed by a serious wine and sake list, and it draws people who are not vegetarian at all, purely for the cooking. Portions come as small plates alongside mains, so sharing is normal, and the room in the Lanes is intimate and often full. It is the one vegetarian booking in Brighton worth making in advance, especially at weekends.
