Purezza started as one of the UK's first fully vegan pizzerias and now runs a branch on St James's Street in Kemptown, serving Neapolitan-style bases with plant-based mozzarella made in house. The dough is slow-fermented and toppings run from a straightforward margherita to more elaborate specials, working equally well for a committed vegan and a curious meat-eater dragged along. It is casual, reasonably priced by Brighton standards, and geared toward a relaxed weeknight dinner rather than an occasion. Booking is worthwhile at weekends since Kemptown gets busy with its own crowd of bars and restaurants.
