How to reach Aberystwyth by train, bus, taxi, or car.
Train
Aberystwyth station (CRS code AYW) is on Alexandra Road, about 180 metres from the town centre and beside the bus station. It is the end of the line: trains come in from Shrewsbury by way of Machynlleth, and some run on to Birmingham International. Transport for Wales runs the services. The Comedy Festival's travel guide gives Birmingham 3 hours, Cardiff and Manchester 4 hours, London 4 hours 45 minutes and Machynlleth 40 minutes. Timetables change, so check the day's board.

- Walk To Town
- About 180 metres from the town centre point used by this site. The prom is a few minutes' walk. The National Library says its own walk from the station is about 15 minutes, or around 20 with the steep climb up Penglais Hill; the Arts Centre is about a mile and steep, and the festival suggests taking a taxi from the rank outside.

Aberystwyth bus station is on Alexandra Road beside the railway station. The TrawsCymru long-distance network runs from here: the T1 to Carmarthen, run by First Cymru, and the T2 to Bangor by Machynlleth, Dolgellau and Porthmadog, run by Lloyds Coaches. Hynt notes the 03 bus stops close to the Arts Centre on the university campus. Traveline Cymru is the journey planner.

Driving and Parking
The A44 from Llangurig and mid Wales and the A487 from Machynlleth in the north and Aberaeron in the south meet at Aberystwyth, per the National Library's directions. The Comedy Festival's travel guide gives driving times of about 2 hours 40 from Cardiff, 2 hours 45 from Birmingham, 3 hours from Manchester, 5 hours from London and 25 minutes from Machynlleth. Seafront on-street parking is charged from 08:00 to 20:00 since 18 May 2026; off-street pay and display car parks are the alternative.
