About
The Bridge Tavern stands where Bridge Street crosses the Vartry, on the site that gives it its name and, indirectly, gives Halpin's Bridge Cafe across the way its name too: Robert Halpin's parents ran a dockside tavern called the Bridge House here, and the young captain of the Great Eastern grew up above a bar full of seamen. Today it is the town's main all-rounder, with a bar, a lounge, a snug and a riverside terrace, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily from an a la carte and bistro menu, and letting rooms upstairs. It has built a local reputation on its Sunday roast. Tables can be booked through OpenTable; rooms are booked separately through the tavern's own system.
