About
Phil's, which most people in the town still call Phil Healy's, has been trading on Fitzwilliam Square since 1861 and is the town's late house. It runs as a gastropub through the evening with lunch and dinner menus and a takeaway option, shows the sport, has private dining upstairs, and turns into the area's only genuine late bar, with a DJ, on Saturdays and bank holiday Sundays. Its own late bar page says that runs until 2am while its published opening times read to 2.30am, so do not count on the last half hour. The one thing to know before you plan around it is that it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which catches out visitors who assume an Irish pub is open seven days.
