Accessibility
Town Centre
Main Street, Market Square and the Mall are a working town centre with footpaths throughout, but the town is built on a slope down to the river and several connections between the Mall and Main Street are stepped.
Harbour
The quays and the East Pier are flat, hard-surfaced and the most accessible walking in the town.
The Murrough
The Murrough path is a compacted gravel and grass track on the level, without steps, but it is unsurfaced and can be soft after rain.
Glen Beach Cliff Walk
Not accessible. The cliff walk climbs about 110 metres on rough, uneven ground with unfenced drops.
Station
Wicklow railway station is 1.6km from the town centre by road with a climb; anyone with limited mobility should plan on a taxi rather than the walk.
For venue-level access, contact each place directly. Wicklow County Council operates a beach wheelchair booking scheme for beaches in the county; check wicklow.ie for the current booking process and which beaches carry one.

Wicklow Town is the county town and has bank branches and cash machines on and around Main Street, including a Bank of Ireland branch on the Main Street run near the Market Square end. Individual branch opening hours were not verified in this research pass. Carry some cash for the pay-and-display car parks.

Coast Guard
Dial 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard for any marine or coastal emergency, including anyone in difficulty in the water, cut off by the tide below the Glen Beach cliffs, or in trouble on the Murrough. Wicklow RNLI has been on station since 1857 and operates from the East Pier with the Shannon-class all-weather lifeboat Bridie O'Shea and the D-class inshore lifeboat Dennis-Audrey. The lifeboat station is not a public emergency phone line; use 112 or 999.

Wicklow Town has no hospital emergency department. The nearest emergency department is St Vincent's University Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin, D04 T6F4, roughly 44km and about 45 minutes north, emergency department 01 221 4358. The hospital's own emergency department page publishes a consultant led 24/7 service for patients aged 16 years and over. The HSE listing for the same department says age 14 and over. The two official sources genuinely disagree and were both re-checked on 28 August 2026, so a 14 or 15 year old should ring 01 221 4358 ahead rather than assume they will be seen, and in a genuine emergency should dial 112 or 999 and be directed rather than driving on the strength of either number. Neither this nor the injury unit below is an emergency department for young children: for a child under 16, dial 112 or 999 and be directed rather than driving. The nearest injury unit, which is not an emergency department, is at St Columcille's Hospital, Bray Road, Loughlinstown, Dublin, D18 V9K1, roughly 34km north via the N11 and M11, direct line 01 211 5048, switchboard 01 211 5000. Treat it as closing at 18:00: its operator publishes 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Sunday, while the HSE listing for the same unit says 8am to 7pm, so someone arriving at 18:30 may not be seen. It takes patients aged 14 and over and treats broken bones, sprains, minor burns and wounds only.

Wicklow County Council reception is 0404 20100 during office hours and 01 291 6117 outside them, for issues like beach hazards, road defects and water pollution. Per the HSE's own service pages, St Columcille's injury unit charges 75 euro and St Vincent's emergency department 100 euro, with no charge if you hold a medical card or arrive with a GP, injury unit or emergency department referral letter. Golf
Wicklow Golf Club

An 18-hole clifftop course on the Dunbur Road south of the town, on the same stretch of coast as the Glen Beach Cliff Walk. Green fees and visitor tee times were not verified in this research pass; contact the club directly.
Luggage Storage
There is no left-luggage facility at Wicklow railway station or in the town. Accommodation will usually hold bags on arrival and departure day; ask directly.

All-day parking out on the Murrough, beside the playground, pump track and skate park, and the obvious place to leave the car for the Murrough walk. The cheapest parking in the town by a wide margin.
Manntains car park

All-day town-centre parking, better value than the hourly car parks if you are staying more than two hours.
Glen Beach Cliff Walk car park
Rate: Free, open 24 hours
Capacity: About 60 spaces
A free car park with picnic tables and bins at the trailhead of the Glen Beach Cliff Walk, just under 2km south of the town centre off the Dunbur Road. It fills on fine weekends.

WiFi & Connectivity
Cafes, pubs and hotels in the town centre
Most cafes, pubs and accommodation in Wicklow Town offer free WiFi to customers, including Halpin's Bridge Cafe and the Bridge Tavern. Mobile coverage is good in the town but drops on the far end of the Glen Beach cliff path and out toward Wicklow Head. The Irish Landmark Trust's Wicklow Head Lighthouse deliberately has no WiFi and no TV.
SIM Cards
Prepaid SIMs are sold in the supermarkets and phone shops on Main Street and in the SuperValu shopping centre on Church Street. A tourist SIM with data typically costs around 20 euro. If you are landing at Dublin Airport it is simpler to buy one there.
