← All things to do

About
Founded in 1320 on Lombard Street and dedicated to St Nicholas of Myra, the patron of seafarers, this is the largest medieval parish church in Ireland still in continuous use. Local legend has it that Columbus stopped in to worship here on a visit in 1477, before he ever set off west. Inside you will find carved tombs, a mason's marks and the worn stone of seven centuries of Galway prayer. Entry is free, though a donation in the box is welcome.
