Scholars Townhouse Hotel
King Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth, A92 ED71
About
Scholars is the place to stay if you want to be able to walk everywhere in Drogheda and sleep somewhere with a bit of character. The building is a Victorian red-brick that spent over a century as a Christian Brothers monastery before the current family took it on, and it sits off King Street on the north side, five minutes on foot from West Street, St Peter's and St Laurence's Gate. Rooms are boutique rather than corporate. The restaurant on site holds two AA rosettes and is a genuine destination in its own right, and there is a bar and gastrolounge for a quieter evening. It also does a lot of the town's weddings and functions, so a Saturday can be busy; ask when you book if you want a quiet night.
