Travelling to Doolin by train

Getting to Doolin

How to reach Doolin by bus, or car.

Bus & Coach

Doolin has no train station, so the bus is the public-transport way in. Bus Eireann route 350 runs along the north Clare coast between Galway and Ennis, calling at Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher, Lisdoonvarna, Lahinch and Ennistymon, with several stops in and around the village including the hostels and Hotel Doolin. It is the practical way to reach Doolin and the cliffs without a car, and it runs daily, though rural frequencies are limited so check the timetable.

Driving

Most visitors arrive and get around by car. Doolin sits on the R478 and R479 coast roads in north Clare, on the Wild Atlantic Way. From Galway it is about an hour and a quarter down the coast through the Burren; from Ennis about fifty minutes; from Shannon Airport about an hour. The roads are scenic but narrow and slow in places, especially through the Burren and near the cliffs, so allow more time than the distance suggests. Parking in the village is mainly at the pier.
