Ghan House is a 1727 Georgian house inside its own walled garden at the southern edge of the village, and its dining room is the most serious cooking in Carlingford. It holds two AA Rosettes, which it has carried since 2011, and the menu is built around what the peninsula and the lough actually produce: Carlingford oysters and mussels, Cooley and Mourne lamb and beef, and vegetables and herbs from the garden. Dinner only, from 6pm, and only Wednesday through Sunday, with the last orders window pulled forward on Sundays. Advance booking is essential rather than advisable; this is an eleven-bedroom house with a small dining room, not a restaurant that can absorb walk-ins on a Saturday. The house is a member of Ireland's Blue Book and of Good Food Ireland.
