Lovage opened in May 2021 in an old stone lodge on Bridge Street, overlooking the Boyle river, and the following year it won both Best Newcomer and Best Customer Service for Roscommon at the Irish Restaurant Awards for Connacht. It is a family business run by Magdalena and Karol, who cooks, and the day menu is breakfast, brunch and lunch made from local suppliers, with vegan and gluten-free options marked. On the evenings it opens for dinner the menu changes to dishes from local producers, with wine picked by a sommelier and jazz in the background. The hours are the thing to check: they change between summer and winter and the published listings do not agree, so ring or look at their Facebook page before you walk down for dinner.
