About

Na Seacht dTeampaill, the Seven Churches, is a complex of early Christian church ruins and grave slabs at Eoghanacht on the island's north-western end, dedicated to Saint Brecan. Despite the name it is not literally seven churches but a monastic settlement with two principal church buildings, Teampall Bhreacáin and Teampall a' Phoill, along with domestic buildings and inscribed grave markers, some of the earliest Christian remains on the island. It sits well beyond Dún Aonghasa on the coast road, so it suits a full-day cycle or a longer minibus tour rather than a quick add-on, and it is genuinely quiet even in high season.
