The single biggest thing happening to Adare in a generation is the 2027 Ryder Cup, and its approach is already shaping the village. If you are planning a visit any time up to and including September 2027, it is worth understanding what the event means on the ground, whether or not you are coming for the golf.

The event and the dates

The Ryder Cup comes to the championship golf course at Adare Manor, with the competition running from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 September 2027. The wider event week builds from around 13 September, but the matches themselves are the 17th to the 19th. It is the centenary edition of the Ryder Cup, which adds to the profile, and it is a one-off, not a recurring fixture. For Adare it is the defining event of its modern history, and the resort and the region have been preparing for it for years.

Accommodation will be scarce and expensive

The most important practical point for any visitor is that beds will be extremely hard to find and expensive across Limerick and the Mid-West around the dates, not just in Adare itself. Expect access restrictions to tighten, not loosen, as the event approaches and the course is prepared. You cannot walk in to see the house or the demesne, and that will be more true than ever in 2026 and 2027.

How to plan around it

If the Ryder Cup is your reason to come, book everything early and expect a crowded, expensive, high-security week, and plan your travel around road closures and heavy demand on the N21. If it is not, the simplest advice is to visit before the September 2027 crush or well after it, ideally in the shoulder seasons of late spring or early autumn, when the weather is good, the castle tours are running, and you can still find a bed at a sensible price. Keep an eye on the bypass, too: once it opens, the through-traffic that has long defined Main Street should ease, which will change the feel of a visit for the better.
