About
A replica of Cook's Endeavour running pleasure trips out of Whitby harbour, and an unashamedly touristy thing to do that happens to make a real point: the original was a Whitby-built collier, a blunt, deep-hulled coal carrier chosen precisely because it could take the ground and survive a reef. Seeing the hull shape up close explains the choice better than a label in a museum does. Trips leave from the harbourside on Pier Road. Sailings are seasonal and weather-dependent, so check with the operator on the day rather than planning a trip around it.
