Lambs is in one of the oldest buildings in Stratford, at 12 Sheep Street, which the restaurant dates to the early sixteenth century and the reign of Henry VIII. The open beams are the room; the menu is a bistro-style mix of British and European dishes built on local produce, served in two sittings each day rather than all afternoon: lunch from 12 to 2pm, dinner from 4.45pm, with Monday lunch off and a shorter Sunday. That split suits a theatre evening, because the early table is the pre-theatre table. Dogs are not allowed inside; the restaurant's booking page says its outside courtyard does allow them, weather permitting.
