A street market on the Market Place every Monday and Thursday, small enough to walk in ten minutes and long-running enough to be a fixture of the town's week rather than a summer add-on. Stalls listed by the town council include Hillfield Nursery for plants and vegetables, DPC Fish Merchants for fish and seafood, hardware, ladies' clothing, handmade jewellery, watercolours and prints, and a stall of baskets, rugs and ceramics. It is the reason the Market Place is busy on two otherwise quiet weekdays, and it is worth timing a visit around if you want the town at its most ordinary and least touristic.
