A restaurant in a working Victorian punt station on the Cherwell in north Oxford, an institution for over fifty years and famous for a wine list far better value than its setting would let it get away with. The dining room and terrace look straight onto the river and the punts it still hires out, which makes the obvious double bill: an hour on the water from the boathouse's own punt station, then lunch or dinner at the water's edge. On Bardwell Road in the quiet of north Oxford, about half an hour's walk or a short taxi from the centre; book, especially for a terrace table.
