A family-run pub with rooms in an Edwardian building at the Bull Ring, with a beer garden behind it that its owners describe as hidden away from the hubbub. The menu is pub cooking done properly: steak, ale and mushroom pie, a minted lamb hotpot, battered cod, burgers. It opens from 10.30am Thursday to Monday and is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, serving food 12 to 3 and from 5.30pm on its open days. Tables are booked by phone or email, and the pub notes that times occasionally vary, so ring ahead.
