About

The restaurant that more or less invented modern Scottish cooking as a serious idea, open on Ashton Lane since 1971 and still the cornerstone of the West End's most famous cobbled lane. The main restaurant sits under a glass-roofed courtyard with a small pond and climbing plants, an unmistakable room, with a menu built on Scottish produce (game, seafood, Ayrshire beef) done properly rather than fussily. There is a more relaxed Upstairs Brasserie above the main dining room, and the Big Pub next door for a simpler menu and a pint. The building underwent a restoration project and reopened; check current opening days directly, since summer maintenance closures have happened in recent years.
