Boats run from Conwy Quay in season, out into the estuary and along the coast, and the tide governs everything: the quay dries at low water, so departure times move day to day rather than sitting on a fixed timetable. That is the single most useful thing to know before you plan around one. Operators keep a board on the quay and post the day's sailings, which is still the most reliable source. Trips give you the one view of Conwy that the town cannot give you of itself: the castle and the wall circuit seen from the water, which is how they were meant to be seen by anyone arriving in 1287.
