Chester Cathedral
About
A working Anglican cathedral with roots as a Benedictine abbey, on the site of an even older Anglo-Saxon minster dedicated to St Werburgh. The red sandstone building carries well over a thousand years of continuous religious use, and its cloisters, chapter house and quire are among the best-preserved monastic buildings in the country. It sits just inside the walls near Eastgate, open daily to visitors outside of services.
