About

The Booth Museum is a slightly odd, very charming Victorian natural history museum built around a private taxidermy collection of British birds, arranged in dioramas showing their natural habitats. It also holds skeletons, fossils, and an entomology collection, and it is free to enter. It is out toward Dyke Road, a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk or a short bus ride from the centre, so it suits people who want something a bit different from the seafront attractions rather than a casual drop-in. Children who are into dinosaurs or bugs tend to love it, and adults sometimes find the Victorian taxidermy display genuinely eerie in a good way.
