Tinakilly Country House Hotel
Rathnew, Co. Wicklow
About
Tinakilly is the house Captain Robert Halpin built when he came home, and staying there is the closest thing Wicklow offers to sleeping inside its own history. The Victorian country house stands in fourteen acres of gardens above the Irish Sea at Rathnew, roughly three kilometres northwest of Wicklow town centre and not in the town itself, which matters if you were planning to walk to dinner. It has the Green Room restaurant, a cocktail bar and a long-established wedding trade, and its function rooms carry names that give the game away: the Halpin Suite, the Great Eastern Pavilion, the Asgard Suite. Book through the hotel's own site.
