About

The Three Bridges Walk is the best short walk in the city, a riverside loop of about 3.5 km that crosses the Shannon on three of its bridges and takes in the water, the castle and the quays. It links the medieval city on King's Island with the Georgian quays and the far bank at Clancy Strand, passing King John's Castle, the Treaty Stone and Curragower Falls, where the tidal Shannon tumbles over rock. It is flat, largely paved and free, and it strings together the headline riverside sights in an easy hour or so on foot. The falls are at their most dramatic on a big tide.
