People's Park & the Georgian Quarter

← All things to do

About

The People's Park is Limerick's finest Victorian park, a green square at the heart of the Georgian quarter beside Pery Square, with mature trees, a bandstand, a fountain and formal walks. Around it lies the best Georgian architecture outside Dublin, the ordered grid of Newtown Pery laid out from the late eighteenth century, with the O'Connell Street spine and the elegant terraces of Pery Square. A wander around the park and the surrounding streets is free and one of the pleasant surprises of the city, taking in the City Gallery and the People's Museum on the square. It is at its best on a bright day.
